2. Executive Summary

This paper is about to examine Alanya Castle and Toys&Games industry together to give a pre thought for designing a game or toy to introduce Alanya castle. The structure of the castle, the tourist profile of Alanya, especially foreigners to make the castle famous in abroad , also to find which toy or game is more available for designing the most appropriate to our aim, the research for toys & games industry are shown in this paper. The datum of tourist profile research enables us to determine the target profile for our product. The structure of castle is deeply examined with a map. Finally, we deeply examine the industry of games & toys in which our product takes in.
The synopsis of the approach taken is to find out which is the best choice for create a toy or game that is both enjoyable and advertiser.
We observed that looking the datum of our target profile we can reach lots of children since families have great proportion and we can sell our products easily to wealthy section which also takes up the great part of tourist profile. In addition to this, we researched the market shares of European countries in the toy market, then we compared it with Alanya tourist profile. This approach helped us to determine our customer profile. We can make a Lego set with the separate parts of castle or we can make a video game by using the usage of those parts of castle according to our further research. Thus with the game and toy people can learn castle’s purposes and parts easily and that make castle well-known and famous.
To conclude, with this research shown that Alanya Castle and game sector can be easily integrated by considering the points which we examined. The further researches will provide us sureness about what are going to design.

3. Overview of Paper

In this paper firstly we categorized things which help us to find the most suitable game focused on Alanya Castle. The categories are Feasibility of making toy or game focused on Alanya Castle, prospects of Alanya Castle which enables us to design a game or toy and the process of selecting the best choice among the toys and games industry. Then detailed research for these categories was written. Tourist profile of Alanya was determined. Important sections of Alanya Castle were researched. After, toys and games industry was researched. Lastly, summary and conclusion was written and reference lists are shown.

ALANYA TOURIST PROFILE RESEARCH 2007
Since 2006, Alanya provides 7.2% of the national tourism income of Turkey and attracts the 6.9% of tourists who came to Turkey. We see that Alanya has the significant share of the touristic places in Turkey.Among the Alanya’s many natural and historical beauties,Alanya castle attracts the all attention of the tourists.In 2009,65.8% of the foreign tourists say that that was their first coming to Alanya , 17.8% of them say that was their second and for 7.2% of them it was their third times.
While they are shopping,they want to buy some souvenirs and show them when they returned their country.If this souvenirs may take interest from the other people in that country,those people may want to visit Turkey,and Alanya.In this point,in the concept of our project,we are working to achieve this with toys&games. Because of the fact that,toys & games have a great effect on the psychology of humans,especially of children,this tool for the advertisement of Turkey and Alanya may really work!!!.
To sell our product,firstly we must know to whom we are goint to sell. So,we searched Alanya’s tourist profile.The following charts shows some classifications which are important for us to know well our customers.

a) Prospects of Alanya Castle which enables us to design a game or toy

The promontory upon which the fortress is built is rather more than 800 meters square and alignment of its projection into the sea almost exactly due south. It raises to a maximum a height of more than 260 meters at the south west corner, where the cliffs fall precipitately into the sea. These cliffs continue with diminishing height and steepness along the south and west. Sides, while to the east and north descent to sea level is made by more gradual slopes and terraces. Starting from a level far below the summit in the south west corner, along finger of rock (burun). Thrust out diagonally some 300 meters into the sea. A shallow recess on the east side served as a harbor in Seljuq times, as it must also have done in earlier ages, and was protected on the landward side by a system of fortifications, prolonged to enclose to whole southern half of the headland, with and inner citadel at the highest point.



Divisions of the fortress:
Alanya Castle has six separate sectors
1. The first sector: Between Kızıl Kule and Tersane

· The Kızıl Kule:
The red tower is an orthogonal structure with an overall diametrical measurement of 19 meters at its space, and a maximum height of 33 meters from the terrace on the eastside of the battlements.
· The Tersane:
This building was a naval installation, in which large ships could be built in security and comparative secrecy, under cover from the weather.
· The Tophane:
This tower clearly has the purpose of the guarding of the tersane on the seaward or south eastern side.

3. The third sector: Ehmedek itself
The purpose of the sector is to provide protection to citadel which has sultan’s palace.
4. The fourth sector: From south of the ehmedek to the citadel
5. The fifth sector: The citadel
This part of the castle occupies the highest summit of the rock. Especially in the centre of the enclosure, the most conspicuous surviving features are two enormous vaulted water cisterns, built of rock.
6. The sixth sector: Separated from fourth sector by a post-Seljuq wall.

The features of those parts of castle can be used in making a toy or a game with their architectural prospects and real purposes. For example, in the game the Ehmedek part can be used as a protection area and the sectors also can be the places in the game.

Accidents and incidents are frequently due to a toy being given to a child for whom it is not intended or being used for a purpose other than for which it was designed. Great care should therefore be taken when choosing a toy or game; account should be taken of the mental and physical development and temperament of the child who will be using it; and the requirements of the standard do not release parents and educators from their responsibility of watching over the child while he or she is playing.
The requirements in the standard, which apply to new toys, take into account the fact that safety devices should withstand some wear and tear. As a result, the persons in charge of the child should ensure that the toy can be left in the child's hands.
